How to grow your online presence is not an exact science, but it’s an area worth studying, for anyone interested in joining the influencer, or online business marketplace.
If you are following me on social media, you know that I participated in a 30-day challenge designed by a best-selling author and CEO of a $100M company.
The challenge? Traffic Secrets.
The man behind it? Russell Brunson.

I had no idea who Russell Brunson was before starting this challenge. I quickly learned that as a content creator and blogger, I have been missing out.
Brunson is an entrepreneur who created a multi-million dollar software company. He shares his experience, tips and tricks in his new book, Traffic Secrets: The Underground Playbook for Filling Your Websites and Funnels with Your Dream Customers. Brunson has helped more than a million entrepreneurs discover sales funnels, and sold thousands of books with the keys for online growth. He is the guy you need to speak to if you want to sell online.
I don’t sell products, but I have a blog and a YouTube channel that I am trying to grow. In Traffic Secrets, Brunson says the biggest hurdle for entrepreneurs online isn’t coming up with a product, or service to offer online, but it is getting discovered by the right audience. That, he says, is the difference between the products and influencers that take off, and those that fall flat.
There is an art and science behind the process of getting your product, your blog, your Instagram account, or your YouTube channel in front of the right audience.
But before you can do that, you have to first know who your audience is. That’s the first secret Brunson reveals in Traffic Secrets.
Here is the second one.
Now that I’ve set the scene without revealing too many secrets, here are my top 5 takeaways from the 30-day challenge.
1. Put in the Work to Grow
The only way you can grow your presence online is to know who your dream customers are and where they spend their time online. Brunson calls this your Dream 100 list – the names of the websites your customers visit, the message boards they read, the Facebook groups they are a part of etc. If your niche is nail art and manicures, you should know which channels your Dream 100 watch on YouTube and comment on, which Instagram influencers they follow, and which blogs they read… and you should be commenting on them too!
That is how you put in the work to grow into the space where you want to be online.

2. Learn What You Don’t Know
Traffic Secrets will teach you some concepts you already know, and it will also introduce you to new ideas that can help you grow your online presence. Although I studied marketing and have been blogging for a while, there is still a lot that I don’t know about. For instance, I know next to nothing about growing an email list. But if I want to grow my online presence and my blog, it is a vital part of that process. How to grow an email list is now near the top of my list of Things to Learn in the next few months. Later on down the line, I may outsource it, but for right now it is crucial that I learn at least the basics when it comes to email marketing.
3. Grow with Consistency
When I signed up for the 30-day challenge, I knew that it was designed to help me to grow my online presence. I didn’t realize that it would also be a lesson in discipline and consistency. The challenge required me to read the book and complete the daily challenges, then share what I had learned. Three simple steps that forced you to gain value from Traffic Secrets. And it worked! The margins of my Traffic Secrets book are lined with my notes about best practices, and tasks that I want to complete to grow my blog. Therefore it required me to invest in my blog every single day over the past 30 days.
4. Invest in Yourself & Your Business
The most valuable asset each individual owns is time. I am still in the stage of life where I feel there are not enough hours in the day to do everything on my to-do list. But I set some time aside each day to invest in myself, my blog and my online presence. That doesn’t mean scrolling for hours on social media apps, or binge watching YouTube videos. Rather, that looks like spending time brainstorming new ideas, doing market research by checking in on my Dream 100, and learning best practices for the various platforms I use.
It pays to invest in yourself and your business.
And did I mention that Traffic Secrets: The Underground Playbook for Filling Your Websites and Funnels with Your Dream Customers is FREE? In exchange for your free book, you only have to do the work for yourself.
So is it worth it?
Yes. Unlike many books about online businesses, Traffic Secrets teaches evergreen strategies that can be adapted as algorithms evolve and social networking changes.
My top takeaway?
The 30-day challenge has taught me that you only get what you put in.
